Really great story..
The pacing here is absolutely relentless and I cannot complain. Chapter 8 starts with Shen Bing's discovery, moves to the phone call, then cuts to Lin Miaomiao pulling an all-nighter, then the factory meeting where she faints, then the hospital confrontation, then back to work where the gossip explodes and Yu Meijing starts a physical fight. That is A LOT of story beats and none of it feels rushed. How? Partly because each scene has a clear emotional purpose — the Shen Bing call establishes the hidden backstory, the fainting scene raises the stakes physically, the hospital scene deepens the romantic tension, and the gossip scene introduces the external conflict. The chapter transitions are also smooth. You go from Lin Miaomiao studying alone with A Bao to walking into work the next day and immediately being hit with hostility. There's no breathing room, which is exactly what the protagonist feels like she's living. The only moment of calm is her two days off, and even that's filled with studying, not relaxation. It's a clever structural choice — the author keeps the pressure cooker sealed so the reader can't put the book down. And that ending with Yu Meijing grabbing hair? Perfect cliffhanger energy.
