I am sorry for the confusion. It was written in Jared's POV and Aly is the only one who is available to explain the situation as Leah is too traumatised to do or say anything.

What are you writer ??..., loved every part of this beautiful story...everything was to the point, it was so sad that both of their childhood were full of traumatic things and not to mention the hot steamy scenes ....... Pls keep writing these kind of stories coz your writing skills are unique...
