A grown man, someone who's survived famine, fled persecution, eaten ten flatbreads in one sitting without flinching—and the simple act of someone sewing his clothes makes him fall apart. Why? Because no one has cared for him like that since his family died. Everyone he encountered after that treated him as a burden because of his appetite. Yun Yin is the first person who hasn't just tolerated him but actually invested in him. And Yun Yin's reaction? She has no intention of being anyone's mother. She waves it off. But the narrative doesn't let her off the hook either—the author makes it clear that if basic decency makes someone think you're wonderful, that person has been starved of kindness for far too long. What's interesting is the emotional asymmetry here. Zhang Lin is pouring out genuine gratitude and loyalty, and Yun Yin is… pragmatic. She sees it as a transaction. But the reader sees something else. The author is building something tender between these two without either character fully acknowledging it yet. And that's what makes it work. It's not romantic—well, not obviously—but it's deeply emotional in a way that feels more honest than most love stories I've read.

I attempted to engage with this, but unfortunately, I must cease. FL (Female Lead) proves to be dreadfully uninteresting as the central character. Her emotional range is limited mostly to anxiety, and she lacks dynamic responses, resulting in an overall flat portrayal. As the adage goes, a one-dimensional character can make for a monotonous story. Moreover, the Male Lead follows the formulaic traits commonly found in many CN (Chinese web novel) clichés.
I truly appreciate the intricate plot progression. Initially, I found it a bit bewildering, but my interest grew with each passing chapter. The pacing is gradual, and尽管它并非以浪漫为核心，但我很享受角色之间的微妙互动。目前而言，我对故事的后续发展充满期待。
