Okay, I've been thinking about this hidden space of hers and I genuinely believe it's the most important symbol in the entire novel. She has this ability to store thousands of items in a private dimension—food, weapons, clothes, everything. But think about what that represents. It's a world within a world. She carries entire economies in her mind. The apocalypse is coming, right? And her solution isn't to fight it or flee it—it's to BUILD something inside herself. A sanctuary. An ark. The fact that it's hidden, invisible, accessible only to her speaks to something deeper. This is about self-reliance taken to its absolute extreme. No one can take what she has because no one knows it exists. In a world that's apparently going to end, the ultimate power is something no one can see, touch, or steal. There's also the duality theme running through everything. Day and night. Tourist and spy. Peaceful cathedral and dark warehouse. Milan's warmth and Norway's cold. She exists in all these opposites simultaneously. The hidden space is the ultimate expression of this—it's both nothing and everything, invisible yet containing everything she needs to survive. "With her backpack on, Shangguan Xueying stepped out of the hotel. Her figure gradually disappeared into the night, vanishing into the streets of Oslo." She's becoming the apocalypse itself—present everywhere, gone everywhere, carrying the weight of survival in silence. That's not just a superpower. That's a metaphor.
