The storyline is exceptional. The misunderstandings occur naturally without the protagonist actively seeking them. So far, there have been no overly dramatic female characters. This novel definitely deserves an anime or manga adaptation. I wish I had discovered it earlier, when it had 110 chapters, as the cliffhangers at the end of each installment were so enticing that I felt like urging the translator to continue, "Don't stop now, there's more to read!" I should have reviewed it sooner, but back then, I was still engrossed in "I Fell Into the Game With Instant Kill."
If I must highlight something about this novel, it is the evolution of the characters. Initially, you might dislike ML, but then you start to understand: while his actions aren't right, they are a product of his time. As the story progresses, ML changes, especially as he falls in love with Fl. Fl, too, undergoes a transformation; she resists at first, but the misfortunes she faces often stem from the men around her, who seek to possess her. Eventually, she falls in love with ML, and it's no surprise, given how much he does for her, providing her with the peace and independence she craves. The only negative aspect I noticed was the political backdrop, particularly since Fl's ex is the emperor, giving him the power to take her back at any time. Fortunately, he respects Fl's choice and allows her to live her life with ML. One thing I didn't like was Fl's double amnesia, which made me worry that ML might suffer from head tumors or some other illness, as it was always her head that got injured. Nonetheless, thanks to the translators for bringing this story to us.
I'm torn between giving this novel a 4-star and a 1-star rating. Initially, the first 240 chapters were commendable – solid storytelling with a unique twist on the "possession plot" within the genre. The narrative progression and character development, including the main character and supporting cast, were engaging.
However, the downfall begins around chapters 241-250. The numerous loose ends and intricate plotlines are abruptly tied up in简易 sentences, leaving readers baffled by the sudden resolution. Despite the superficial sense of closure, it feels unsatisfying, as if a crucial part of the story has been unjustifiably truncated.
In summary, while the overall tale is entertaining, the disappointing ending taints the experience, making one question the point of it all. Therefore, I'm giving it a 3-star rating, acknowledging the enjoyment derived from the beginning, but cautioning against the potentially frustrating finale.

The plot twists kept me on the edge of my seat, making it a compelling read that left me wanting more. Overall, "Nova Roma" is a well-crafted tale that successfully weaves history and suspense, making for a truly engrossing experience.

And theres that mystery woman that manager said Ling Sheng looked alike. And, now we know why he was so mad at Third Master Jun but, so far it sounds like it was him being BS against Jun. And who and how did Ling Sheng got pregnant? She didn't know the father if i remember correctly. Wow, this story left me with so many questions.

Really? I don't believe it. Have you read "Rebirth of the Thief who roamed the world" or "Overgeared", they are way better than this one for me, the only reason I'm carrying on with this novel is because I came too far to stop now.
