just the right mix of romance, heartbreak and adventure
A heartwarming slice-of-life story. Despite clear signs of dysphoria, the main character couldn’t care less and readily indulges in their newfound, peculiar urges.
TL;DR: This book has a lot of potential, though there are some kinks to be worked out.
This novel, at least from the few chapters available, appears to fall into the horror/mystery genres. The main character travels to different planes or timelines and must solve mysteries to escape and return to the real world.
One crucial point is that, despite the presence of supernatural elements, the main character has no special powers. There’s also no system or mechanism for gaining such powers. He relies solely on his intelligence to navigate these life-threatening mysteries and uncover the truth.
However, this is also where my primary issue with the book arises. The author struggles to effectively portray an intelligent character. The main character makes impressive deductions that readers wouldn’t be able to make, but this is often because the author withholds key information.
For instance, the main character becomes suspicious of someone wearing slippers, but the author doesn’t mention this detail until after the main character “solves” the mystery. This omission prevents readers from following along and making their own deductions, which can be frustrating in a mystery novel.
While this isn’t the most severe issue, it does diminish the enjoyment of reading about a smart character and solving puzzles alongside them. I might be more critical of this flaw, but the novel is still in its early stages. The author has room to grow and refine their writing, and I believe there is significant potential here. The plot I’ve read so far is well thought out, although it remains to be seen if it will maintain this quality as the story progresses.
The only other noteworthy point is that there are some translation issues, but they didn’t significantly impact my reading experience.
I’d recommend giving this novel a try if you enjoy mystery novels.
I would rate this at a maximum of 3 stars. Initially, it started off decent enough, but as the story progressed, it lost its appeal. There were numerous plot inconsistencies, underdeveloped characters, and a mediocre storytelling skill. The narratives felt unfinished and冗长, with excessive repetition. It seems to cater to those with limited entertainment options and are willing to kill time. Whether it's the translation or the original writing, there's a significant room for improvement. Frankly, it was a disappointing read.
In just 32 chapters, I've shed an abundance of tears. Writing this now, I'm still emotional. It's truly heart-wrenching. So for those planning to read this tale, particularly those with a strong empathetic heart, make sure you have tissues on hand ?.

the novel isn't caught up nor is it complete. also a lot of the things that happen after athy disappears are a lot different so i'd recommend reading from the beginning :)
