I will also compare this to the Light Novel (LN) as I initially started with it. However, after reaching Volume 11, I grew impatient and decided to finish the Web Novel (WN). Let's clarify that although I personally rank it highly, it isn't perfect and may not appeal to everyone due to its Overpowered Protagonist (OP) nature and isekai setting, which is quite common. I enjoy slice-of-life stories and isekai, so my perspective might be biased.
In summary, the main character isn't complex or purely virtuous; instead, they aim to leisurely explore this new world through tourism, avoiding confrontations with powerful enemies. If you can tolerate an OP isekai protagonist with a harem subplot, you might enjoy it. The WN has a stronger focus on action, with side stories offering a slice-of-life vibe from different characters' perspectives, unlike the LN, which leans more towards slice-of-life and fewer side stories with varied viewpoints.
Both versions share a similar overarching plot but differ in storytelling and writing style. I didn't find it repetitive to read them one after the other. The LN starts with an OP MC, whose actions and motivations in both LN and WN are similar but have distinct reasons. In the LN, the MC acts like a tourist, using his powers only when necessary to avoid trouble, while in the WN, he is more proactive in helping others.
The MCs retain some "modern-day" values, making them seem less OP, despite being transported to another world. They refuse to kill unless absolutely necessary, adapting their ethics to fit the situation. The WN's side stories are a highlight for me, providing a deeper look at the world and helping the reader understand the MC's perspective better.
The LN, however, introduces characters rapidly and pushes the harem aspect, whereas the WN uses side stories to develop characters more organically, creating a more interconnected world. The writing styles differ – I enjoyed the LN's slice-of-life feel with the MC's thoughts, while the WN's first-person narrative with a more detached third-person perspective was more appealing to me in terms of side stories.
Overall, if you appreciate a mix of OP isekai and slice-of-life elements, with a focus on world-building and character development through side stories, the WN might be the better choice for you. The LN leans more towards the main character's perspective, while the WN offers a broader range of viewpoints.
