A very well thought out storyline. THe first chapter is lit.
excellent but tired of waiting
The pacing in these chapters is absolutely ruthless in the best way. Let me walk through it because the author does something really clever here. You start with the sabotage—Huang Xingwu's people destroying their clay stove work, Hu Huanxin's frustration, the group swearing revenge. That's the inciting incident of this mini-arc. Then instead of dwelling on the anger, the author pivots HARD to problem-solving. Tao Nanfeng sees the flower stem, gets the straw-brick idea, and suddenly we're in full construction mode. The time jumps are what really sell it. "Three days later..." "Twenty days later..." "On the evening of the twenty-sixth day..." The author doesn't bog us down with day-by-day labor descriptions. She gives us the milestones and lets our imaginations fill in the rest. This is how you handle a construction arc without putting readers to sleep. Most authors would drag this out for fifty chapters. This one does it in six and makes every page count. And then the confrontation with Huang Xingwu—oh man, the tension here is incredible. The youth march to the farm headquarters ready to celebrate, and Huang Xingwu is just sitting there, tapping his fingers, already planning how to sabotage them again. "Who's to say the building is even habitable?" The way he tries to use bureaucracy as a weapon is so realistic it makes my blood boil. And Wei Min losing his temper and slamming the desk? Perfect. We needed that release of frustration. But the real pacing masterstroke is the ending. Huang Xingwu arrives at the settlement, sees the house, and the narrative just CUTS OFF mid-sentence: "How could you possibly build a house like this? Even if Fan Yajun herself had come, sh—" The author literally leaves us hanging on a sentence fragment. I screamed. I actually said "WHAT" out loud to my phone. This is cliffhanger writing at its finest—no explanation, no soft landing, just pure "I need the next chapter NOW" energy.
This book is really getting good. I can’t wait to read about the new Aria! She has to play this right smart and powerful. I noticed updates are in the evenings. Is there a certain time?
