I initially entered the novel with a positive impression, although not狂热 enthusiasm, but my interest eventually waned. The protagonist, Satou, proved to be quite a dull character; I found it easier to relate to other robot characters. Despite being an incredibly overpowered (on a scale akin to Xianxia主角) individual, he frequently complained about not wanting to become a noble or seek fame, yet he often allowed circumstances to dictate his path or manipulated by others. For instance, after becoming a Viscount, he complained about the newfound status, yet he didn't consider voicing his disinterest to the king and seeking an alternative. He lacks agency.
The main character's emotional expression is minimal, similar to Tatsuya from Mahouka, but without a compelling reason for his detachment. His sole ambition revolves around marrying an elf princess. Surprisingly, he manages to win over even the most calculating nobles through his culinary skills. While it's common for LN nobles to be portrayed as dimwitted, this series takes it to an extreme.
Additionally, the story indulges in excessive wish fulfillment, as Satou effortlessly grows his harem, often with underdeveloped characters due to the large number (over a dozen). Many of these women are left waiting for Satou's decision, despite being high-ranking nobles with potential suitors. A notable plot point is that the future elf princess reveals she won't marry him unless he forms a harem first, citing the need to pass on his 'amazing genes' to multiple humans.
The main character is a passive beta who desires nothing, yet the author forces upon him everything, from titles to harems, with flimsy justifications. There's a complete lack of tension or urgency in the story, as everything seems to work out effortlessly for Satou, even against threats from monsters, bandits, women, or scheming nobles. The kingdom has no enemies to challenge him.
Despite its flaws, the series earns a two-star rating due to its well-crafted world and occasionally decent character development, apart from their adoration of Satou or food-related obsessions. The translator does a commendable job, which is a rarity in translated novels these days.
I'm curious about how this ends up on the top series ranking, despite its shortcomings. The storytelling felt粗糙, like an unpolished second draft – there were plenty of ideas and moments where the plot moved, but it lacked coherence. The translation needed significant improvement, as there were numerous typos and the language was difficult to follow. It was almost as if a machine translation would have been more comprehensible.
Unfortunately, I couldn't continue reading past Chapter 36. While the translator isn't solely responsible for my drop, the excessive focus on melodramatic "dog blood" scenes played a role. Here's a spoiler:
Not only were the villains portrayed poorly, but the male lead was equally unrealistic – falling in love with a stranger at first sight and treating her words as law, even when she rejected him. Despite being supposedly a highly accomplished individual, he succumbed to the charm of this seemingly invisible beauty, who outshines celebrities with devoted fans. Her humility and low-key nature are puzzling, given her striking appearance.
The所谓的"revenge" was crude, lacking sophistication and artistic merit. In fact, the entire plot seemed to rely on clichéd twists and predictable tropes, lacking substance or depth.

It could have done better. The whole point of harem genre is to grab beauties. I felt like the aithor started out great and then grew muddle headed. Maybe he was trying to attract a different wave of readers but why introduce a fem. Char as being super beautiful only to ignore her and walk away.
Point of Gilbert the lewd dragon was just ??? Teaching him a yin technique that can go awry if he doesn't control himself. Small things like MC being able to clear Bellinda's birthmark but it going nowhere.
I loved this book. It's fast paced, filled with twists and turns and enough fear to give one nightmares.
