the book is really nice, but Bailey is so immature and annoying, her actions in the last chapters just put me off so much, it’s like she makes me not want to read any further. Gray deserves way better.

That butterfly dream. Let me just sit with that for a second because I think it's the single most important symbol in the entire novel so far. A child chasing a butterfly in complete darkness. The butterfly flies just out of reach, teases her, makes her run until she falls, gets back up, runs again. And then—'the butterfly was never meant to be hers.' But why show it to her at all? Why dangle it in front of her if the point is that she can't have it? I think the butterfly represents desire itself, or maybe hope, or maybe the very idea of 'becoming more.' Fu Erdie spent this whole chapter trying to gain power, trying to evolve, trying to catch the butterfly. And she didn't. The core shattered. She didn't mutate into a zombie. She didn't become an ability user. But Building 7 became something more. The plants grew. The ecosystem expanded. She didn't get the power she wanted—she became part of something bigger than herself. The dream is telling her that the chasing was never about catching. It's about the running. And that's honestly a much more interesting theme for a post-apocalyptic novel than 'get stronger and survive.' This story seems to be asking: what does it mean to grow when the world is ending? And the answer might be: you don't grow by taking power, you grow by becoming part of a community, a home, a living system that outlasts you.
I love me a strong female lead! .... The attraction between Cameron and Davina is just so sweet. I love the way you bring out every emotion. Kudos writer
