so the beach sounds like great complications fixing to occur
nice story
The story was ok but with an ending like that I knocked the rating down by a star and half. It was like the author did not want to continue so she just stopped at a huge cliffhanger with nothing else to go on. I was hoping for a part 2 or some type of explanation from the author but nothing.
I love this book...I just hope things works out well for Audrey...I honestly don't like Frank at all. Thank God she didn't make love to him
The Shen family villa birthday scene is one of those moments where the author really lets the setting do the talking. Let me paint it for you: a bustling banquet, long dining tables set with exquisite dishes and pastries, Shen Zhenghao glowing with joy because his hotels are finally doing well after Wen Corporation's investment. Shen Jiaojiao in this black haute couture gown—off-the-shoulder, accentuating her figure, simple but stunning. She's playing the role of the perfect wife, standing by her father's side with a polite smile. And then—enter the drama. Two luxury cars pull up simultaneously. A Maybach from the left, a Cullinan from the right. Two men stepping out at the same time. The visual of Wen Shanyi in a custom white suit—deliberately dressed to impress, hair perfectly styled—versus Xie Yanqing in a deep blue suit, looking tired from overnight travel but still radiating that composed, mature energy. They nod at each other like nothing is happening, but the air between them is absolutely electric. And then the back garden—oh, the back garden. A glass greenhouse, roses planted everywhere, the fragrance filling the air. It's almost too perfect, too cinematic. The author uses the garden as a stage for the most emotionally charged scene in these chapters. The dim lamplight, the shadows, the blood dripping onto red roses. It's got that film noir quality where every frame is carefully composed. I could literally see this as a TV drama scene. The contrast between the bright, noisy banquet hall and the quiet, intimate garden is brilliant staging. One space is for performance and social obligation; the other is for truth and raw emotion. And the author never misses a beat in transitioning between them.

I was very surprised by how captivated I was by this book. Trying to read around all the Christmas activities has been difficult, and I find myself staying up later than I should just to read.
