I need to talk about Cen Xie because something about this character is eating at me. On the surface, he's a villain. He kidnaps people, he threatens violence, he forces someone into a wedding dress and photographs them against their will. That's not okay, obviously. But the way the author writes him — there's this moment, right in the middle of all that cruelty, where Cen Xie stands there looking at Ying Zhu through the veil and just... freezes. His hand goes up instinctively, he forgets what he's doing, and for one heartbeat the whole atmosphere shifts. "An indescribable tension suddenly injected itself into the atmosphere between them; time seemed to stand still for a heartbeat." That's the thing that's been haunting me since I read it. Because in that moment, Cen Xie isn't just some sadistic captor. He's someone who's genuinely affected by Ying Zhu, and not just in a twisted way — there's something almost vulnerable about it. He's the one holding all the power in that room, and yet he's the one who gets flustered. Ying Zhu, the one who's handcuffed and drugged and humiliated, is the one who breaks the spell with a sneer: "What are you acting so thirsty for?" And Cen Xie snaps back, but it's defensive. He's embarrassed. The whole power dynamic is so complicated. Then there's Ying Zhu himself, and I have to say, his reaction to the memory cards is fascinating. He watches himself being intimate with another Omega — a clingy, devoted Omega who pleads for more even while exhausted — and his response isn't disgust or confusion. It's curiosity. "This Omega is very clingy, was Ying Zhu's thought after finishing the second memory. A clingy Omega… who could it be?" He's not just watching for pleasure. He's trying to identify someone. There's a hunger in him that goes beyond the physical, and the text makes it clear: "This was a true craving for the union of soul and flesh." That line about the memory owner's voice being hoarse and sobbing "But I still want it" — that's the kind of devotion that Ying Zhu is searching for. That's the kind of connection he's missing. The relationship between these two men is this toxic, charged thing that I can't stop thinking about. Cen Xie has the photos, Ying Zhu has the memories, and neither of them can seem to let the other go. It's obsessive in the most uncomfortable way possible.
