This is a great novel with good pacing and storytelling but it suffers from severe word padding. The author will repeat the same thing several times in a chapter so not a lot happens in any given chapter.
If you like the typical mindless MCs, face slapping young masters and useless female leads that instigate problems to move the plot then you will probably like this story.For everyone else, this is a cliché laden story with recycled plot and plot twist to take up word counts. Not sure why Chinese readers continue to put up with these crap novels. Our standards must be very different from theirs.
ive read to chap 154this is a sign in system story. meaning that the MC will focus more on cultivating that takes like decades before coming out to gain some insight before going into retreat again.action do exist but is it's very little at the beginning. although at the later time, it does increases but it is still quite minimal.MC is told to have great temperament. meaning that he wont panic or show great emotion when facing any situation. and yes, thats what how he acts at the story. he wont help anyone if it endangers himself or risky. he is not a good person nor a bad person. he is a lawful neutral person. only when it involved his master would he begin to show such emotion.characters are great and theres a lot of untap potential for future plots. world background are not explained unless needed.the romance is great though. this is still a xianxia novel but the romance is quite pure, unlike the usual xianxia where they meet, face some danger together, fall in love, and then become couple. they actually *spoiler* get engage before falling in love. and right now they dont like each other, but have a favourable impression towarss each other. and because it is such a pure interaction where they slowly get close together. i can only honestly say that you should read this for the romance.the other aspects is fine and depending on preference, it can be good or bad.so before you start reading, please know that :1. MC is a lawful neutral and wont help unless he have a good reason2. theres not much action as expected from a sign in system genre3. romance is a slow growing type
MC is just completely oblivious. Story is filled with stuff like "little did the MC know, his body was being purified" and "the MC got another martial arts manual, but he doesn't know how to use them". Is some basic knowledge about the setting too much to ask for from a MC?

Reading the first paragraph of chapter 1 had me want to drop asap, skipping to chapter 40 cemented my decision. Rating 1 star.Chapters lack depth, no descriptive writing at all other then basic stuff, lacking in details and most important the story has no flow. I felt this was a creation of a ten year old, the very first paragraph was so lacking and held the most basic description of the main character it was boring.
