And then she tampers with the stove vent at night? That's not petty, that's dangerous. It's winter in the northwest. She could've suffocated someone. The neighbor Auntie Liu drops this info casually like it's gossip over laundry: Han Qiuyu's family once tried to set her up with Qin Mian, and she still thinks they're meant to be. She even had her mom come scold Qin for being unkind to Li Luo. The entitlement is staggering. Meanwhile, Li Luo—freshly dropped into this body, trying to survive—handles her with this weird mix of deflection and genuine attempt at magnanimity. When Han Qiuyu splashes water on her, Li Luo literally says 'knowing your mistake and correcting it is what matters.' I wanted to shake her. Like girl, this is not your mom, this is a rival who is actively trying to make your life miserable. The power dynamic here is so interesting though. Han Qiuyu has social capital—everyone knows her, everyone likes her, she's pretty and ambitious. Li Luo has nothing but her wits and that stubborn refusal to stay down. I keep waiting for Han Qiuyu to make a bigger move. What's she going to do next?
