I'm really enjoying this book a lot n can't wait for more updates. I literally started reading this book a few hours ago n couldn't put it down!
Let me begin by mentioning that I read this a while ago, so some specifics might be fuzzy. Also, being around the same age as the characters when I read it, during my final high school days, might color my perspective slightly.
Most reviews are accurate. At its core, this story revolves around the classic high school experience, with a moderate pace (not instant love, but not painfully slow either). It's light and optimistic, excelling in capturing everyday humor and character dynamics. The plot, however, isn't particularly engaging; in fact, I find that simplicity refreshing, as it avoids the overly complicated love triangles and subplots often seen in high school romances that can feel detached from teenage reality. Instead, the straightforward nature of the narrative stands out, with perhaps the only unrealistic aspect being the main characters' exceptional intelligence and their tight-knit relationships.
A major plus for me was the portrayal of the main couple as intelligent, yet relatable teenagers who make mistakes, have meltdowns, and struggle with maturity. These imperfections are portrayed without annoyance, and conflicts are eventually resolved, making the characters well-rounded and growth-oriented.
If I were to critique, I'd say the sentimentality can become overwhelming at times, especially towards the end. The story has a heartwarming, coming-of-age vibe that can border on saccharine. However, I must admit that I thoroughly enjoyed the extra content, even shedding a tear during the poignant goodbye scene, reminiscent of a parent's bittersweet feelings as their child moves forward in life.
Novel Quality drops off hard. There's too much and too little going on all at the same time. There's so many harem members the author stopped writing lemons, and now its a weird typical isekai that isn't really that good.
Super adorable! I adored the character dynamics, especially since the author skillfully reintroduced old characters regularly, giving them more depth. Even brief appearances provided a sense of continuity. Our protagonist fits the classic Gary Stu archetype – incredibly strong and resourceful, thanks to his dwarf mother's expertise in forging and tinkering. His inventions pushed the mecha technology to new heights, with multiple patents and improvements.
The character's learning ability was extraordinary, as he rapidly grasped concepts, skipped grades, and impressed academics. It might be overwhelming for those who prefer less OP main characters.
Regarding the male lead (ML), I can understand CasBrin's and others' concerns about his controlling nature at first. It's true that he made decisions for the MC and initially micromanaged, like cutting the MC's hair. However, considering the circumstances – a young, disabled boy found in a dangerous situation – ML's actions can be seen as justified given the slow burn romance plot. It takes time for the relationship to develop, and the ML's harsh exterior eventually softens as he gets to know MC better.
He initially believed MC would face significant challenges due to his disabilities and lack of spiritual power. But he took MC under his wing, offering support and resources. As the story progresses, others around them start acknowledging MC's true capabilities, and the ML gradually realizes he needs to let MC face life's hardships more independently.
While the ML remains commanding, even after realizing MC's mental maturity, significant character growth occurs, especially towards the end, with the help of a few key figures. If you can tolerate the initial controlling behavior and stick with the story past Chapter 30, you might find this novel quite enjoyable.
