Total ripoff, don't get sucked in. After paying over $100 and reading it for almost a year it ends with no answers or conclusion.

This sentence is the emotional core of the entire opening and I need a minute. Chen Jue is established as a man who doesn't cry, doesn't show emotion, doesn't care what people think. His head nurse literally warned him about this. And yet here he is, alone in a thatched hut in an ancient world he never asked for, crying over a woman he couldn't save. The tear is cold because it's been three days—three days of him holding it in, three days of processing grief he never had time to feel in his first life. What destroys me is the guilt. Not just the general "I tried my best" guilt that every doctor carries, but this specific, spiraling self-doubt: "If he had chosen to save the child first instead of trying to rescue Jiang Xinhe, could he perhaps have saved the little one?" One must not doubt oneself; once caught in such a situation, it becomes an endless cycle of self-justification. The author wrote that line and I felt it in my bones. Every reader who has ever replayed a moment and wondered "what if" will feel this. And then Chen Jue looks at the dawn and says "I acknowledge this child. I will give birth to him and let him live a good life. Xinhe." He's not just accepting his fate—he's making a promise to a dead woman. That's not plot progression; that's emotional transformation. He's carrying her child literally and figuratively, and the weight of that is everything.
