I had hoped for a powerful demon or enemy to challenge him and perhaps spark some growth, but instead, it's a monotonous read with no humor or thrill. If you enjoy a character-driven, low-key narrative without much excitement or comedy, this might be your cup of tea. However, if you're looking for an action-packed, exhilarating xianxia (仙侠) story with laughter and drama, this might not be the right fit. I sincerely wish the author would inject some seriousness into the plot soon.
So far, I've read seven volumes, but it's been quite unimpressive. The main character (MC) lacks depth and is a half-hearted cheat. His behavior is childishly naive, despite being an adult. There's no focus on farm, store, city, or empire-building elements, which would have added substance.
The plot feels convoluted and poorly executed. Here's a breakdown of different plotlines I'd prefer:

- Plot A-a: Adding a princess rescue and introducing villains could work, but making it a harem-centric plot dampens the appeal; +0.
- Plot A-b: A save-the-city event with limited MC involvement is weak and unsatisfying; -1.
- Plot A-c: Honorary court title with potential for politics and empire-building is intriguing; +3, but handling it poorly (-5) by not utilizing it properly.
- Plot A-d: Deviating from the initial plan to focus on crafting and book-buying is a significant disappointment; -10.
- Plot A-e: Overloading the story with unnecessary female characters and fan-service detracts from the narrative; -5.
The MC hasn't shown much as a merchant, which is a missed opportunity. Alice/Arisu/Arisa stands out as a competent character. Despite these shortcomings, the fact that the MC visited a brothel and had a sexual encounter is a rare positive (+1) among generic shounen stories.
This is a delightful comedy with an endearing tale that features a captivating plot and well-developed characters. As the story progresses, it significantly improves, especially towards the climax, where each character's arc concludes cohesively, and there are humorous yet heartwarming twists.
