Let me just say — the pacing in these chapters is absolutely filthy in the best way possible. The author starts with Xu Huai'an's perspective, all cold and unreadable, the butler noticing something's different. Then we cut to Xie Wenxing losing his absolute mind over missing self-study, dreaming about being despised, waking up listless. The anxiety is palpable. Four hours of not seeing each other and Xie Wenxing is already spiraling. Then the cut back to Xu Huai'an buying the cake. The car ride. The butler's probing questions. And then — BAM — he's at school, standing there like some kind of untouchable deity handing out strawberry cake to ONE specific person. The scene transitions are so sharp and deliberate. You go from Xie Wenxing's internal panic to the external spectacle of everyone watching Xu Huai'an give away a gift. The gossip spreading across campus within one class period? That's how you show impact without telling. And the chapter ends with this whisper: "If you want to know about Xu Huai'an, come to the small grove at noon." A cliffhanger that hits right as you're trying to process the cake incident. I had to immediately open the next chapter. No choice. The pacing doesn't let you breathe and that's exactly why I couldn't put it down.

Love, love, love this book!!! Very unique storyline. Adrian is the definition of sexy, Alpha male. Elle is a strong, independent woman and one tough human! I'm wondering when the bonus chapter is coming out? You mentioned that at the end of the book. And book 2, I need that too. Like right now! ;-)
