A brilliant story. I really struggled to put it down! I would love to see a sequel.

I... I wrote a long review about how much I love this story, and my browser crashed, leaving me traumatized at the thought of having to rewrite it all again.
The gist of it: The story is a great mix of romance, humor, angst, and fluff. The main characters are incredibly sweet and respectful towards each other (the side characters have their own stories, but I love those too, so stick around for them!). I also really enjoyed how Qiao Yu doesn’t know the entire plot of the novel, so she’s just winging it, and spoiler alert—she ends up clashing with the gods of the story later on.
The "main lead," Cong Ye, adds a lot of humor to the story with his enthusiasm and interactions with Qiao Yu and Lin Qing. Bear with his annoyingness at the beginning; he’ll grow on you.
Special appreciation goes to LP for their clean translations and for always providing extra context when needed. ?
What can I say? I haven't come across a Korean novel, or any novel for that matter, that matches the excellence of this one. Okay, perhaps that's a slight exaggeration since I do have my personal favorites, but this one certainly stands out among my readings thus far. It's disheartening to see how the translators who took over after Chapter 40 marred such a fantastic work.
I wonder why a more capable translator didn't take on this project earlier? Were the translations held hostage by less skilled hands until it was too late? It seems like learning Korean might be necessary to fully appreciate the rest, but I doubt the untranslated comments would hold the same appeal for me.
It's similar to appreciating literature in different languages, where one might prefer one over others for its unique charm. In my case, I'm proficient in three, and I enjoy reading in English.
...Moving on from that tangent. I highly recommend reading up until Chapter 40 and skipping the rest until the manga adaptation (which, unfortunately, will likely be heavily censored) comes out. Asura's translation might be worth waiting for, although I doubt they'll surpass the fantastic work done by Patchwork Novels.
This novel is truly exceptional. Although primarily aimed at women, its engaging content appeals to both genders. The protagonist stands up for those who sacrifice their souls for a better outcome. She's practical and prefers martial arts and strategic planning over seduction for her missions. I appreciate how she often handles love interests (FLs) indirectly, isolating herself from their negative actions, allowing them to face the consequences.
In response to criticisms found in other reviews, let me address them. First, the issue of bullying - the MC is aware of her vulnerability and won't confront those capable of harming her. Her cautious approach initially stems from self-protection, which becomes less prevalent as she gains strength. Second, regarding rape and non-consensual situations, the author chooses to focus on the MC's reactions rather than dwelling on graphic details. The character's attractiveness does not justify such actions, and the story doesn't condone them. The FL's actions often hint at problematic relationships, like in "50 Shades of Grey," where even attractive characters exhibit dark sides. Third, about the FLs' treatment, there may be instances where the MC seems overly involved. In two specific stories, the actress's fate is predetermined by past events, and the blackmailed FL's situation highlights poor judgment, not inherent deservance. However, the MC's harsh actions towards the villainous family are excessive, as they were already defeated and her actions only worsen their circumstances.
Regarding the country girl, her encounter with the MC serves as a cautionary tale of self-destruction, triggered by harassment. The MC only intervenes when provoked, maintaining her status as a princess. Ultimately, the novel's main focus is on the MC's底线, regardless of whose side is morally right or wrong.

this is f*ck*ng between similar and same to "Throne of Magical Arcana."
in starting you will find almost everything same, just change the names of characters and job of MC.
the only unique point from my point view is that "he is f*ck*ng immortal (but can be killed) from start" so his approach to life and magic is completely different than "Lucien Evans". but still, it is good and enjoyable.
I can't speak for others, but I'm reading this not for the romance interest but purely for the interactions between characters, lore, and comedy.
After CH 59 the translation and grammar/speech went down ?. I hope it gets better though. I'm on CH 62.
