The pacing in these chapters is actually really clever. You've got the pendant reveal early on, which sets up this whole mystery about Su Wantang's background. Then we cut to Zhao Xuanzhen investigating, and boom—two days later the results are on his desk. Efficient. No dragging. But then the real magic happens when Su Wantang comes to the study. The author takes their time here, doesn't rush through the calligraphy scene at all. We watch her pick up the brush, see her terrible handwriting, and then Zhao Xuanzhen actually teaches her. It's these small moments that build the relationship. And then—plot twist within a twist—he notices her rough palms and suddenly things get... complicated. The scene transitions are smooth too. We go from the study to Su Huajin's reaction, to the punishment, to Su Wantang eating leftovers like a starved animal. The pacing there is almost comedic in how quickly she recovers. One minute she's standing in the sun looking pitiful, next she's shoveling food. It keeps you engaged because you never know which version of Su Wantang you're going to get.
i love the read . but come on with the chapters. its hard to wait in between them

I am already so in love with this book! I was hooked after the first 5 chapters and I will be on edge waiting for each update til the end! Kat is such a lovable character so far and I don't expect an easy ride for her but I look forward to going along with her
