I'm on chapter 6 and I'm loving this book already! I love Evelyn being a kickass heroine, and Alpha Raymond for being a cold slash possessive male lead!!! Good job, author!
Love this book! Absolutely enjoyed it! Realised while reading though that The King Alpha’s mate would be best read before this book so I’m going to read that book after this! Is a sequel to this possible?
Wow! Just wow!
Hoping there will be an update or at least a response about when to expect updates soon. It’s been quite some time since the last one.
131 chapters 1-25-23

I want to read this book cause it seem interesting but I can’t finish it beyond chapter one because everything seems jumbled up and I can’t fully understand what’s being said

I keep coming back to the rain scene. You know why? Because the author took a simple moment—walking out of a building in the rain—and turned it into something that feels like a film frame. Let me paint it for you: Wen Zhili in these custom-made silk brocade shoes with Suzhou embroidery and pearls. Huo Shengbai holding an umbrella. The rain getting heavier. Her shoes getting splashed with mud. And then—he just picks her up. Princess carry. No dramatic music, no announcement, just this man who clearly has severe mysophobia handling her vomit earlier and now carrying her through rain because he won't let her feet get wet. The detail about the rose scent seeping into her body is interesting too. It's not just visual—the author is building a sensory world here. The smell, the sound of rain, the physical closeness, the umbrella creating this tiny private world just for them. It's cinematic without being overwrought. Then you cut to the next morning and we're in this formal dining room with Grandpa Huo, the servant bringing soup, the careful seating arrangements. The contrast between the intimate rain scene and the stiff family dinner is brilliant. One feels private and real, the other feels like a performance where everyone is playing a role. The dinner scene especially—with the under-the-table knee brushing, the forced politeness, the chicken soup that's completely wrong for her—creates this claustrophobic atmosphere where every gesture has hidden meaning. The world feels lived-in too. The school hierarchy, the Beijing circle power dynamics, the family structure with Grandpa Huo as the benevolent center. It's not just a romance backdrop, it's a functioning society with rules and consequences.
