The author's portrayal of the main character's personality is highly frustrating. As numerous reviews have hinted, the book revolves around the author repeatedly raising hopes for the MC, only to dash them due to arbitrary plot developments. The MC is disliked by others mainly because he's from a humble background, leading to constant bullying. Despite the traumatic past – the author could have explored a more complex character, like giving the MC bipolar tendencies, alternating between calm, calculated, and explosive anger when triggered by his abusive childhood.
Instead, the MC is an idealized pacifist who rarely uses violence to resolve conflicts, even when it might be necessary. This one-dimensional approach to character growth leaves readers frustrated with the MC's naivety and passivity. Supporting characters are equally unconvincing, with female characters inexplicably liking him and male characters seemingly hating him without clear reasons. The MC remains passive in the face of societal injustices, choosing to escape rather than confront them.
This lack of proactive action and the MC's apparent selflessness contribute to the widespread dissatisfaction with the novel. The inability to empathize with the protagonist's struggle to change his circumstances or pursue personal betterment contributes to the reader's disapproval.
Death Progress Bar deftly oscillates between heart-stirring suspense and unexpectedly comical moments, providing a refreshing balance amidst the high-stakes tension. The novel's lightheartedness, rather than being a distraction, serves as a welcome respite, allowing readers to catch their breath amidst the thrilling narrative.
A key plot twist, which sets this transmigration story apart, is introduced around chapter 20 – when the protagonist discovers that the tale he has found himself in was narrated by an unreliable source. This revelation adds depth and intrigue to the story.
Shi Jin shares some similarities with Mason from "Kill the Lights," although I won't delve into the specifics. Shi's inclination towards protecting and caring for others, demonstrated even in his interactions with his AI system, creates an enjoyable dynamic where his amiable nature unintentionally draws people to cater to him.
I sincerely hope you grow from this phase, and if you are somehow above the age of 14 I think it's too late and a bullet into the brain might be the only way to save you ??↕️

the manhwa is so much better than the novel but that doesn't mean the novel is bad either it just got confusing at times.This is truly a beautiful novel
