The pacing in this passage is absolutely wild and I need to appreciate how the author rides these tonal waves. It STARTS as comedy. Ah Yao making tearful faces about not being able to afford buns. Ye Xingyue immediately throwing her senior brother under the bus. The demon lords bickering like a dysfunctional family. You're laughing, you're thinking these kids are kind of cute in a messed-up way. Then Fengxue pulls out a stone and starts skinning a man alive. The comedy evaporates instantly. Ah Yao throws up. The narrative doesn't soften this at all—it lingers on the sound of the hide being peeled, the groans, the pool of blood. You're not allowed to look away. But then—deliverance chant. The weeping faces in the hide growing peaceful. Fengxue's gentle voice. And suddenly you're crying because this terrifying woman who just flayed a human being is also the most compassionate person in the room. Then they go to eat and get surrounded by villagers. The pacing slows down, becomes almost lyrical with the Grandma Song flashback. The morning mist, the bubbling oil, the daughter's voice. And then—empty stool. The whip crack. The staring lamb. And back to the present, where Fengxue is walking through a crowd of grateful people in her blood-soaked robes, and Ye Pengzhou is watching her with this look. The whole emotional journey from laughter to horror to grief to something warm and complicated—that's a masterclass in pacing. The author never lets you settle into one feeling for too long.

I love this story but hate that it's taking forever for updates chapters. please update as soon as possible this always happens I get into a book n it's not completed I wait months and months and it never gets completed. I get that lives are busy but we got into it and now want to finish it please.

The narrative is compelling, and I wholeheartedly endorse it. However, there's one aspect that leaves me with mixed feelings. The main antagonist, despite her villainous actions, garners sympathy due to her belief that her family was innocent and shouldn't have been executed. If only the protagonist could reveal to her the true identity of the traitor, perhaps she wouldn't waste her life seeking a futile vendetta. It's unfortunate that even when the roles reversed, with the villainess becoming a pawn, and ultimately meeting an untimely demise, she didn't find redemption through the depth of the Ninth Prince's love. It's a tragedy that she couldn't reconcile with the situation without knowing the truth.
It's much easier to read here than other website. I remember one time i need to suffer for reading small letters and there's no any settings or whatsoever. So I'm thankful about the people who owned the website. End of discussion.

So far the only badass female lead novel was the Villianous Mother-in-law (idr the exact title but that's the gist of it). It's a bot repetitive but the romance is minimal and she remains mostly dominant throughout the story... but that's 1 novel out of the d*mn near 2000 that are on this site ☕️
