Great book if this is the end ended to fast.
I know this seems like a random tangent but I literally had to stop and process what just happened in Chapter 17. Lu Jinghan making crème caramel for Lin Yi. Let me just — let me sit with this for a moment. Here's a man who is apparently a renowned director, someone who can fly into a rage and verbally eviscerate Su Qing in a series of voice messages that sound like they came from a completely different person than the one pushing a dessert bowl across the table. And yet, the way he talks about making that custard — "I heard you from outside during your livestream that day" — he's glossing over it like it's nothing. Like he didn't go out of his way to make something Lin Yi had apparently made himself before. Like this act of care is too small to mention. But Lin Yi notices. He notices the faint flicker of amusement in those golden eyes. He knows that making crème caramel as a beginner is not easy. And instead of making a big deal out of it, he just says "It tastes great" with genuine sincerity. That's the whole relationship right there — two people who don't need grand gestures, who communicate in small acts of kindness and quiet understanding. And then immediately after this tender moment, Lu Jinghan taps Lin Yi on the shoulder and says "Don't be too tense. If any problems arise, come find me." One moment he's making desserts, the next he's being a protective force. The contrast is everything. What kills me is that Lin Yi, who just received this small act of care, immediately goes back to his wrist terminal. He can't even sit with the kindness for more than a few minutes because the war outside is too loud. Lu Jinghan is the only person in this story who seems to understand that Lin Yi needs to eat and rest, and he expresses it through food rather than words. That's either the healthiest relationship dynamic I've ever read or the saddest, depending on how you look at it.
I had fun reading this novel. Too bad its still unfinished though. Definitely saving this to my library! I'm excited for the updates. Keep up the great work dear author ❤️
