The narrative structure here is tight: setup (nightmare comfort), escalation (breakfast tension), climax (garden confrontation), and resolution (the trap springs). It's a well-oiled machine.

I already know more than i want to going into this novel, why why why do you insecure authors insist on dumping so much info?
