Okay so this whole divorce plot is genuinely brilliant and I need to talk about it. Ji Jinyu isn't just leaving her husband—she's building a legal case against him like some kind of ancient Chinese lawyer. The fact that she drafted the indictment herself is wild. Most protagonists in these novels would just storm out dramatically, but she's out here collecting evidence, writing complaints, and strategically threatening to expose his political enemies. That's not revenge, that's a full-court press. The plot twist I didn't see coming? Dou Shichang's official position might have been obtained through improper means. Ji Jinyu suspects it, and she's using that suspicion as leverage. She's not just fighting for herself—she's weaponizing the entire imperial examination and official appointment system against him. The line where she says "I even suspect his current official position was obtained through improper means" hits different because it reframes the entire conflict. This isn't a domestic dispute anymore; it's a political assassination attempt with paperwork. And the five thousand taels demand? Chef's kiss. She's not trying to destroy him completely—she's extracting maximum compensation while leaving just enough rope for him to hang himself later. The plot is tight, the stakes are clear, and every conversation moves the story forward. No filler, no wasted dialogue. Just pure strategic maneuvering.
Nice, waiting for the next chapter...
