I need to talk about Huo Shengbai because this man is doing things that should not be this romantic. Let's start with the mango juice scene. The man has a SEVERE allergy, his neck is covered in red welts, and he's sitting there thinking about how happy he is because Lili offered him a drink. He welcomed the pain. He WELCOME the anaphylaxis-adjacent reaction because it was from HER. That's not devotion, that's something darker and more beautiful and I am not okay. But what really got me is the contrast between how he treats Wen Zhili versus everyone else. The bodyguards? Brutal. Li Wei? Slapped into next week. Her biological mother? Kept away for two months because Huo Shengbai decided her presence would sadden Lili. This man operates on a completely different frequency when it comes to her. And Wen Zhili—oh, Wen Zhili. She's trying so hard to keep boundaries. The 'Uncle' thing, the stiff legs under the table, the deliberate avoidance of his gaze. But here's the thing: she noticed his knee brushing against hers. She felt it. She's just choosing not to acknowledge it out loud. That moment when her hand trembled and the chess piece fell? She's not as composed as she's pretending to be. The dynamic between them is this gorgeous push-pull where he's constantly testing boundaries and she's constantly drawing lines he immediately crosses. And the secret engagement! The fact that to the world she's still Huo Cheng's fiancée while Huo Shengbai is claiming the seat beside her—this is going to explode and I need it to happen NOW.
