love this story
The plot structure here is masterfully layered with dramatic irony. We, the readers, have known Gu Yan's true identity all along, but Yun Xiangye remains in the dark until this moment. That tension between what we know and what she discovers is what makes these chapters so gripping. The revelation that she married into a princess's household instead of a merchant family is a genuine twist — it reframes every interaction they've had in Jiangnan. The gold bracelets replacing the silver ones on Nuonuo is such a potent symbol too: Yun Xiangye's daughter is being claimed by the noble household, her humble origins literally traded for wealth. And then there's the subplot with Wei Nian, who is already scheming in her carriage, convinced Yun Xiangye is merely a temporary convenience. The maids gossiping about divorce and concubines adds another layer — the household itself seems to be waiting for Yun Xiangye to fail. What I found most interesting is how the author uses Nuonuo as the emotional anchor throughout. The scene where the three-year-old Jingru demands Nuonuo's name and gets only a repeat-back in response is both funny and heartbreaking. Yun Xiangye's protective instinct in that moment reveals everything about her character. The plot is building toward an inevitable collision between Yun Xiangye's monogamous ideals and a household that operates on entirely different rules.
Good story but update schedule is unknown.
