I keep thinking about what's actually at stake here and it's more than just romantic tension. On the political level: Yan Huaijin is in an open power struggle with his brother. Pei Yunting is the daughter of a powerful military marquis. Their relationship is NOT just personal—it's strategic. If someone used her to implicate the Pei family, that's not a rumor, that's a real threat. Yan Huaijin's warning about not accepting invitations wasn't paranoia, it was genuine caution. The stakes are her family's survival. On the personal level: Pei Yunting is caught between two brothers who were once inseparable. She didn't ask for this. "The two of you are the ones competing with each other. Why do you always drag me into it?" She's trying to maintain neutrality while everyone around her treats her as a prize or a pawn. But the deepest conflict is internal—and it's the one the author handles most beautifully. Pei Yunting has spent years defining herself in relation to Yan Huaijin as her annoying childhood friend, her verbal sparring partner, her safe constant. But now that barrier with Yan Huaize has formed, now that she's forced to confront her own feelings, something is shifting. "Something deep within her heart was quietly beginning to break free from its shell." The carriage ride at the end—just the two of them, the city lights, the unspoken tension—this is the moment where all those conflicts converge. She's leaving the palace (physical freedom), she's with Yan Huaijin (emotional risk), and she's feeling something she can't name yet (internal transformation). The stakes have never been higher, and the author makes you feel every single one of them.

I really enjoy the pacing of this story. I wish the rating was higher so I could have found it sooner. This is one of the best BL novels I've read so far. It's concise, but the plot is well-crafted with solid conflict. The romance is absolutely charming.
In the story "Dorro," the main character (MC) takes on the role of the male protagonist and finds himself transported to the world of Bungo Stray Dogs. However, unlike his peers, he possesses unique challenges as he is blind, deaf, and without limbs. Initially, there's an unexpected romantic subplot, as the MC is unaware of his altered circumstances. Fortunately, any misunderstandings are swiftly resolved, making for a compelling and heartwarming narrative.
The narrative possesses an intriguing depth of concepts, beautifully crafted and translated, yet it unfortunately carries a few significant drawbacks. The story attempts to intertwine a reincarnated anti-hero tale with a tragic revenge plot, but the fusion feels disjointed, as the lighthearted villain arc lacks cohesion with the严肃的主题 of abuse and retaliation. The tonal inconsistency is striking, with neither aspect fully aligning.
Furthermore, the protagonist's motivations are unclear and frustratingly underdeveloped. Despite knowing her ultimate objective, the specifics of her revenge-driven plan feel forced and lack depth. As the heroine's drive is central to the story, this flaw significantly undermines the overall experience.
Despite some enjoyable aspects, these shortcomings prove too substantial for me to continue reading.

For me this is a hidden gem. After reading trough the other comments / reviews it feals like most of their problem was with the genre and not the actual novel. There no over the top fight scenes and it more about mistery and mental healt.
But don't start it since this site seems to have dropped it and the only translation I found the characthers referd to the male MC as 'she', soo the grammar was really off.(no he doesn't indentify as a female and its purely a grammatical error)

That first paragraph was a summary of the vast majority of the book without any spoilers. Er Gen once again makes a fantastic novel, one that is filled with intrigue and ever growing mystery as we, discover the truths hidden behind the veil of endless veil of lies that we witness slowly unravel during Su Ming’s desperate struggle against his fate.
This book has probably the best world building I’ve ever seen. The already masterful world building slowly comes undone to reveal even more masterful world building filled with endless mystery and emotion. If you start this book and doubt that it’s worth continuing DO NOT drop it, the further you make it the more it will entrance you.
