Good book
I have read this passage at least six times and I still cannot process the sheer tension between these two. Let me just say it: Wen Qingli's lips brushed against Lu Zheng's cheek and both of them froze. FROZE. And then the internal monologue—'What would it feel like to actually kiss them?'—from LU ZHENG, of all people, this stoic captain who doesn't show emotion to anyone? He's standing there thinking about kissing his wife while she's stepping back like 'I absolutely have no other intentions' and I am screaming. The accidental touch, the sweet fragrance still lingering on his nose, her lips 'lightly caught between her teeth'—the author is writing romance like a poet and I am not okay. But what makes this even more painful is that they're both pretending. They agreed to this marriage, they agreed to pretend not to know each other, and yet every single interaction is crackling with something neither of them can deny. Wen Qingli burying her 'secret crush deep in her heart' while Lu Zheng is literally imagining what it would feel like to kiss her—this is the kind of dramatic irony that makes my heart hurt in the best way. And then the scene at the end where she's covering her burning cheeks after he walks away, 'filled with nervous excitement and anticipation'—she's thinking about the kiss they're going to have later and she's trembling. Meanwhile he's probably walking away composed as ever but his mind is also somewhere it shouldn't be. The emotional restraint is killing me. Every unspoken word, every nervous nod, every 'Okay' that means so much more than just agreement—it's all there and neither of them will say it out loud.

this is just an all around great story. I'm kinda hoping she picks Ryan so the council leaves him alone....but whatever direction this book takes, I'm sure it will be well worth the read. keep up the great writing!
