I have to talk about Yu Yue's voice because it is genuinely one of the most entertaining narrative voices I've encountered. She's sharp, self-aware, and has this dry humor that cuts through every scene. Take this moment: 'Just moments ago, she had already made up her mind—she would give birth to the baby in her belly. Additionally, she intended to find the man from that night. Therefore, she didn't want to get entangled with her ex-husband any further. If possible, she even wished she could hack into the civil affairs bureau and erase the marriage record between her and Fu Jingyan.' The casualness of 'hack into the civil affairs bureau' after discussing pregnancy and divorce like she's planning a grocery list — that's comedy gold. And it's completely in character. She's not dramatic about it. She's pragmatic. She's already three steps ahead while everyone else is still figuring out what's happening. Her dialogue with Fu Jingyan is also fantastic. 'Mr. Fu, there's no need for such formalities. If you have something to say, just say it directly.' Polite, distant, but with an edge. And then: 'Our marriage was always about mutual benefit—you survived, and I got what I wanted. So, neither of us owes the other anything.' That line is a scalpel. She's defining the entire relationship in one sentence and then closing the door. But the real dialogue win is Old Madam. 'Yueyue, men should be ordered around like this.' Said with 'a smile that crinkled her eyes.' The grandmother's voice is warm, traditional, slightly oblivious, and completely distinct from everyone else. And Fu Jingyan's silence — his '…' responses — speak volumes. He's a man who barely knows how to communicate with the woman he's married to, and the dialogue makes that ache palpable. The author's dialogue is natural, layered, and each character has a completely distinguishable voice. No one sounds like anyone else.
