I've read the author's other works, and they seem to have a penchant for these types of characters. They also enjoy building tension and mystery, but it often doesn't quite hit the mark.

Simply put, if attending a friend's birthday party, one wouldn't abruptly announce, "I'm bored, so I'm leaving now." Instead, one would politely express a need to leave due to an unforeseen circumstance and seek understanding. If the host is reasonable, they'd accept the apology and allow departure. If not, one might stay longer to address the issue.
In the context of the story, the main character has effectively communicated his intention to leave and expressed remorse for his earlier actions, reflecting a level of politeness. The female lead's refusal to accept this outcome reveals her crossing a line into impolite behavior, setting the stage for later chapters, as hinted around Chapter 57. The tension arises from her desire for a deeper apology or retribution, which the protagonist, as a salaryman, might perceive as simpler to endure than escalating the conflict by fleeing. Although the MC doesn't appear overpowered, the reliance on the card system in combat becomes apparent, especially during early stages when swordplay and wit are more prominent. The action scenes before the MC amasses enough funds for upgrades are generally more thrilling, intense, and clever.
Overall, the story is captivating and well-paced, with the MC displaying intelligence akin to One Piece's sharp characters, the spontaneity of Luffy and Ace, and a pragmatic heart. This combination creates a unique character that feels integral to the narrative, rather than an outsider. The translator or editor does an excellent job bringing the story to life.
I highly recommend giving this fanfiction a chance, even if you typically steer clear of fanfiction or Chinese Isekai stories. You might discover something special without much effort, as there's a depth to it that transcends genre boundaries.
