Fantastic story! Incredibly well written and an utter joy to read
I'm not going to lie to you—I came for the rebirth drama and the scheming, but what actually got me was this one tiny moment between Shen Qingyu and Mu Yue. After Jiang Muxue runs away crying, Mu Yue tugs at Shen Qingyu's clothes and whispers 'this Jiang Muxue seems particularly fixated on you.' And Shen Qingyu—this woman who just dismantled a manipulative opponent in front of an entire room, who hasn't shown an ounce of weakness all chapter—she smiles. A 'rare smile.' She says 'Thank you.' That's it. That's the whole scene. But it hit me so hard because it's the first time we see Shen Qingyu let her guard down even a fraction. She's been sharp, strategic, tireless, and completely composed from the moment she arrived. But with Mu Yue, there's this quiet recognition between them—two women who see the world clearly in a place that rewards blindness. And Liu Hongxia too, who just... doesn't tolerate nonsense. 'The moment Sister Shen sat down, you came sniffing around. Aren't you meddling a bit too much?' That's friendship. That's loyalty without drama. The emotional core of this book isn't romance—it's the bonds forming between people who are trying to survive something brutal, and who find strength in each other. Even the small gesture of Shen Qingyu sharing a White Rabbit milk candy while sitting on a worn wooden stool after a long day—it's such a human moment. She's exhausted, she's been fighting on two fronts (the collective debate AND Jiang Muxue), and she allows herself one tiny pleasure. I loved it. I loved it so much.
