Cool story author! You did a good job this! Way to go!
I truly enjoyed it. Looking forward to the next.
Okay, I need to address the pacing of this entire sequence because the author is a absolute monster when it comes to tension-building, and I respect it so much. Let me walk through the structure here. You've got Chapter 21 starting with Huo Linyuan holding Jiang Youwan, his face inches from hers, and then—cut to Huo Jinchen yelling outside. The interruption is PERFECT. It's the classic "almost kiss" trope executed with surgical precision. The reader is literally on the edge of their seat, and then BOOM, the ex-boyfriend ruins the moment. But instead of resolving the tension, the author AMPLIFIES it by having Huo Linyuan use the interruption to his advantage. Chapter 22 is where the pacing really shines. The author takes Huo Jinchen's entire monologue—his kneeling, his promises, his desperate pleas—and lets it play out in real-time while simultaneously showing us what's happening INSIDE the room. Dual timelines, essentially. Outside: the ex is crumbling. Inside: Huo Linyuan is getting more possessive by the second. The contrast creates this incredible rhythmic tension. Every time Huo Jinchen says something pathetic, we cut back to Huo Linyuan's darkening expression. It's like a musical score building to a crescendo. And then Jiang Youwan's line: "Looking at you would dirty my eyes." That's the climax of the entire sequence, and the author sets it up perfectly by establishing that this isn't like her at all. "This really didn't sound like something Jiang Youwan would say." The narrative itself acknowledges the shift, which makes the moment hit even harder. The chapter ends with the housekeeper scene, which is a brilliant pacing choice—it slows things down after the intensity, gives us a breather, and drops a massive hint about Jiang Youwan's pregnancy. Cliffhanger done right. If I had one critique, it's that some of Huo Jinchen's dialogue drags a bit—he repeats himself. But honestly, that's also realistic. A desperate man DOES repeat himself. So maybe it's a feature, not a bug.
I hope that freaking guy was only a part of plan and not someone real *fingers crossed* but what if they have just sent the guy to tease her but later he was actually possessed by that stephan?
