"My dear sister, why so worked up?" Oh my god. I literally screamed when I read this. Xie Ning's dialogue voice is absolutely lethal. She doesn't raise her voice, she doesn't need to. She just casually brushes off a non-existent wrinkle on Bai Ying's shoulder like they're having tea instead of war. And the exchange about Bai Ying's father? "Do you need me to sponsor an interview program so you two can reunite in front of a national audience?" That's not just a comeback, that's a surgical strike. The author has given Xie Ning this razor-sharp wit that cuts through every pretense. Meanwhile Bai Ying is just sputtering, her lips trembling, completely outmatched. But what I love most is the Lu Tingyan banter earlier. "I have absolutely no interest in you." "What a coincidence, neither do I." It's this dance where both of them are pretending they don't care while the narrative makes it incredibly clear that they absolutely notice each other. The dialogue between them crackles with this unspoken tension. And then Xie Ning turning it around: "Could it be that you hope I'd be interested in you?" Lu Tingyan's response—just a low chuckle and a warning to keep her eyes in check—is perfect. He doesn't deny it. He just deflects. Classic.

I can’t wait for more chapters to this book. It’s really getting good. I hope it’s updated really soon. I’m looking forward to seeing what happens with the shadow pack at the gates of the Denver pack.
