I also can't get over the contrast with everyone else. Zhou Wei and Xie Nanke exchange a look and retire. The men are drowsy, irritable, ready to sleep. But Qi Xun? She yawns, says ten pages, and keeps going. When dawn comes and she's standing at the gate in the freezing wind, shouting to stop a man from leaving — that's not just professionalism. That's obsession. That's someone who has lost everything and refuses to lose again. The emotional core of this entire passage isn't the murder. It's the woman who wouldn't stop working until the truth came out.
