Xia Huai is a college student who works a part-time job as an actor in an escape room, specifically playing the role of a male ghost. One evening, while performing his duties, a customer named Gu Yu mistakes him for his own girlfriend and aggressively kisses him to offer comfort. Gu Yu later apologizes, claiming he kissed the wrong person, but his ambiguous behavior and the intense nature of the encounter leave Xia Huai shaken. Despite the awkward start, the two begin to communicate regularly, exchanging daily good morning and goodnight messages. Their friendship deepens quickly, with Gu Yu frequently visiting Xia Huai’s campus and treating him to meals. Xia Huai remains unaware that Gu Yu is supposedly in a relationship with a girlfriend, assuming their bond is purely platonic.

Suspicion arises when Xia Huai’s roommate, Liang Qing, insists that Gu Yu is gay, citing subtle behavioral cues and the intensity of Gu Yu’s attention. With his memory restored, Xia Huai accepts Gu Yu’s affection, and they resume their relationship. They return to the escape room together, where Gu Yu insists on playing a couple’s scenario, reigniting their romantic connection through shared fear and intimacy. The story faces a final conflict when rumors spread on the university’s confession wall, accusing Xia Huai of being a homewrecker who seduced Gu Yu away from his girlfriend. Liang Qing defends them online, but the narrative shifts when Gu Yu publicly comments on the posts, denying the existence of the girlfriend and claiming he and Xia Huai have been together since childhood. He provocatively offers to show photos of them in split pants, turning the scandal into a humorous victory and silencing the critics. The story concludes with the couple planning their future together, including bringing Xia Huai’s grandmother to live with them, solidifying their commitment despite the earlier controversies.
