You Get What I Mean, Right?

Su Huaijin is a nineteen-year-old undergraduate from a declining third-rate noble family in B City. His life is defined by hardship: his father is a hopeless gambler who squandered their inheritance, his mother abandoned the family, and his five-year-old brother, Su Jue, suffers from a severe illness requiring expensive treatment. Su Huaijin supports them through multiple part-time jobs, including writing fairy tales, while living in a small apartment with his childhood friend, Mario. Despite his impoverished circumstances, he retains his dignity and refuses to beg for charity, maintaining a cold, pragmatic exterior to protect himself and his brother from the cruelty of his relatives.

The narrative begins when Su Huaijin falls into a coma after a physical altercation with Huo Woyu, the new head of the powerful Huo family. Before losing consciousness, Su Huaijin experiences a lucid dream in a futuristic white space, where he is forced to read a web novel titled "The Domineering CEO Forcibly Takes What's Mine." He realizes with horror that the novel's plot mirrors his own life almost exactly. The book depicts a toxic, illogical romance where the scummy CEO, Huo Woyu, abuses the protagonist, Su Huaijin, based on constant misunderstandings. Most terrifyingly, the novel predicts that Su Huaijin will be forced to kneel in a storm outside the Huo mansion for a day and night, resulting in permanent disability. Armed with this foreknowledge, Su Huaijin resolves to escape his predetermined fate and save himself from the physical and emotional torment outlined in the story.

Upon waking, Su Huaijin finds himself in the Huo mansion, but the situation has diverged from the novel. Huo Woyu, who should be the cold, abusive CEO, behaves strangely. Instead of demanding an apology or punishing Su Huaijin, Huo Woyu appears intrigued by his resilience and beauty. The central conflict arises from the family's desperate need to maintain their social status. The Su family, facing financial ruin and the threat of being removed from the Registry of Noble Families, attempts to force Su Huaijin to substitute for his cousin, Su Mingzhu, in an arranged marriage with Huo Woyu. This union was originally intended for Su Mingzhu, but she eloped, leaving the Su family to send Su Huaijin as a replacement due to a fortune-teller's claim that Huo Woyu requires a partner with a specific birth chart.

Unlike the submissive protagonist in the novel, Su Huaijin openly refuses the engagement, shocking the Huo and Su families. He asserts his autonomy, rejecting the role of the sacrificial victim. Huo Woyu, however, does not react with the rage predicted by the book. Instead, he displays a mix of amusement and genuine interest, offering Su Huaijin financial assistance through a children's charity foundation for his brother's medical bills. This unexpected kindness confuses Su Huaijin, who suspects Huo Woyu is playing a long game. Their interactions are further complicated by recurring dreams where both characters appear as children in a beastman-themed parody world, revealing deeper emotional vulnerabilities and a subconscious connection between them.

As Su Huaijin navigates this altered reality, he discovers that the plot of the original novel is not fixed. His actions have already changed the trajectory of events, causing confusion among the characters who seem bound by the original story's logic. Huo Woyu's behavior shifts from the typical domineering CEO archetype to that of a socially awkward but earnest suitor, while Su Huaijin remains cautious, determined not to fall into the traps of melodrama and manipulation. The story follows their evolving dynamic as they negotiate boundaries, family pressures, and their own growing attraction, challenging the fatalistic narrative Su Huaijin initially sought to escape.
