Zhou Nuan is a twenty-three-year-old elementary school teacher who recently graduated from Jianghan Provincial Normal University. Despite her parents' wishes for her to accept a stable teaching position, she harbors a dream of attending Yunnan University for graduate studies in dance. She lives a modest life in a small rented apartment and has been dating Jiang Hao, a low-level bureaucrat from a wealthy family, for nearly a year.
