Wanting Your Kiss

Ji Yuzhou, the youngest corps commander in the Empire's history, arrives at the Xinghe Welfare Institute for a routine inspection. The orphanage director, Sun, attempts to flatter the general, but Ji Yuzhou detects suspicious noises from an abandoned dormitory. Inside, he discovers a malnourished boy named Jiang Xunyu being brutally bullied by older children. Jiang Xunyu is seventeen, skeletal, and covered in bruises. When Ji Yuzhou orders the bullies to stop, the director reveals that Jiang Xunyu is considered an outcast because he possesses rare, vivid blue eyes, which are viewed as omens of misfortune in a society where black eyes are the norm. The director describes the boy as ungrateful and withdrawn, but Ji Yuzhou is struck by the child's eyes, which remind him of an old friend, Jiang Qin, who once saved his life. Jiang Qin also had blue eyes and died under mysterious circumstances. Convinced that Jiang Xunyu is the son of his deceased friend, Ji Yuzhou decides to take the boy with him, overriding the director's protests.

Jiang Xunyu is initially terrified and unresponsive, cowering under a desk and refusing to let anyone touch him. He is brought to Ji Yuzhou’s private residence, where his injuries are treated by the general’s personal physician, Lu Hewang. The boy is covered in scars from long-term abuse and is deeply traumatized, flinching at sudden movements and hiding his face. Ji Yuzhou learns that Jiang Xunyu’s name means "to seek light." Despite the boy’s fear, Ji Yuzhou treats him with unexpected gentleness, offering him education and a place in the military academy. Jiang Xunyu, who has never experienced kindness, is confused and suspicious. He agrees to stay, partly because Ji Yuzhou claims to be an old friend of his father, and partly because he has nowhere else to go. He is assigned a guest room in the floating mansion and begins to adjust to a life of comfort, though he remains shy and insecure about his appearance.

As weeks pass, Ji Yuzhou’s true intentions begin to surface. He plans to use Jiang Xunyu as an undercover agent to infiltrate a resurgent interstellar pirate group. The pirate leader is rumored to have yellow eyes, a trait that marks him as an outcast similar to Jiang Xunyu’s blue eyes. Ji Yuzhou believes that Jiang Xunyu’s appearance and shared experience of prejudice will allow him to gain the pirates' trust. However, as he watches Jiang Xunyu grow more comfortable and loyal, Ji Yuzhou hesitates. He finds himself unable to fully commit to the plan, recognizing the boy’s innocence and vulnerability. Meanwhile, Jiang Xunyu enrolls in the military academy, where he struggles with the academic workload and social interactions. He is bullied by a classmate, Zhuo Xingchang, who mocks his lack of parents and insinuates that he is Ji Yuzhou’s kept boy. The bullying escalates until Jiang Xunyu loses his temper and attacks Zhuo during a photon gun training class, resulting in a fight that sends both boys to the hospital.

Ji Yuzhou is furious and disappointed by the incident. He takes Jiang Xunyu home and demands an explanation, threatening punishment if the boy does not confess. Jiang Xunyu refuses to reveal that the fight was triggered by Zhuo’s cruel remarks about his relationship with Ji Yuzhou, choosing instead to endure physical punishment in silence. Ji Yuzhou eventually stops the beating, realizing the boy’s stubborn loyalty. He learns the truth through his own investigation and confronts Jiang Xunyu about his fear of guns, which stems from past trauma. Despite the conflict, Ji Yuzhou continues to support Jiang Xunyu’s education, tutoring him personally each night. The boy’s academic performance improves, and he begins to trust Ji Yuzhou more deeply. However, the underlying tension of Ji Yuzhou’s secret mission looms over their relationship. Jiang Xunyu remains unaware of the general’s true plans, but his growing attachment to Ji Yuzhou makes him vulnerable to the dangers that lie ahead. The story ends with Ji Yuzhou struggling between his duty to the Empire and his protective feelings toward the boy he rescued.
