Xu Nianchu, a modern heiress, wakes up in the body of an eighteen-year-old girl in 1968 China after being drugged by her best friend. She finds herself in a precarious situation, having been betrayed by her own father, Xu Shanchuan, who intends to sell her to an older, influential man named Wu Chi to secure political protection. Fleeing her pursuers, she stumbles into the home of Lu Beichen, a military officer who is also under the influence of an aphrodisiac due to a covert mission. Although the circumstances suggest a compromise, Lu Beichen resists her advances, choosing instead to help her escape the immediate danger and providing her with clothes before she departs.
Upon returning home, Xu Nianchu discovers she has transmigrated into the body of the cannon-fodder supporting female character from a novel she had read. The original owner was destined for a tragic fate, passed from man to man and ultimately dying in misery. Determined to change her destiny, Xu Nianchu locates a hidden compartment in her room containing a jade bracelet, which serves as her golden finger. By binding the bracelet with her blood, she gains access to a spatial dimension containing her modern-day suburban villa, spirit spring water, and fertile land. This space becomes her primary asset, allowing her to store valuable items and produce high-quality goods in a time of scarcity.
Xu Nianchu begins to systematically dismantle her father's schemes. She discovers a secret underground treasury filled with gold, jewelry, and currency that belonged to her late mother, Ye Huixin. Using her spatial ability, she empties the entire treasury and her father's hidden cash reserves, leaving the Xu family with nothing. She also confronts her stepmother, Tang Jinhua, and her stepsister, Xu Xunle, asserting her dominance and refusing to be treated as a disposable pawn. During this process, she strengthens her bond with her frail younger brother, Xu Xinglin, using the spirit water to improve his health.
Her path crosses with Lu Beichen again when he saves her from a mentally unstable man harassing her in an alley. Recognizing his value and the protection his military status offers, Xu Nianchu decides to pursue the childhood engagement arranged between their families by their grandfathers. She visits the Lu residence to claim the betrothal token, only to find that the Lu family, specifically Lu Beichen's mother, has denied the existence of any engagement. It is revealed that her stepsister, Xu Xunle, had impersonated Xu Nianchu at a blind date with Lu Beichen's brother, Lu Shijia, attempting to secure a marriage into the military family for herself.
The confrontation at the Lu home exposes the stepsister's deception. Xu Nianchu's presence and the evidence of the original engagement agreement force the Lu family to reconsider. Lu Beichen, who had initially been indifferent, finds himself increasingly drawn to Xu Nianchu's resilience and intelligence. As the political climate grows more tense and Xu Shanchuan's schemes begin to unravel, Xu Nianchu must navigate the complex social hierarchy of the military compound while preparing for the inevitable fallout from her father's failed plans. The story follows her transformation from a victim into a powerful figure who controls her own fate, leveraging her spatial abilities and strategic mind to outmaneuver her enemies.
