Transmigration to the ’70s: I Married My Fiancé’s Older Brother

Su Mujin, a modern woman who had prepared for a potential apocalypse by stockpiling vast supplies in a mysterious spiritual space, suddenly transmigrates into the body of a girl with the same name in a 1970s Chinese novel. In this new reality, she finds herself drowning in a river, having been pushed there by her reborn older sister, Su Moli. Su Moli is the novel’s female lead, who returned to the past to take revenge on her sister and steal her fiancé, Song Liancheng. The original Su Mujin died because of this betrayal, but the transmigrated Su Mujin manages to swim to safety and rescue a handsome, unconscious man washed ashore nearby.

The man she saves is Song Qinian, a decorated soldier who is paralyzed from the waist down and destined to die young in the original story. When Song Qinian’s family arrives, Su Moli attempts to slander Su Mujin, claiming she is shameless for performing mouth-to-mouth resuscitation on another man. Su Mujin moves into the Song family compound, where she is warmly welcomed by Song Qinian’s parents, who are grateful for her acceptance of their son. She quickly bonds with Song Qinian’s younger sister, Song Muxue, buying her a bicycle and treating her with genuine affection. This contrasts sharply with Su Moli’s planned future, where she would have to compete for attention. Su Mujin also discovers that Song Qinian, despite his paralysis, is wealthy and generous, giving her his life savings and gold ornaments as a gesture of his commitment. Their relationship blossoms as she cares for him, and he becomes increasingly devoted to her.

Meanwhile, Su Moli’s plans begin to unravel. She had intended to marry Song Liancheng and rise to power, but Su Mujin’s interference has disrupted the original plot. Su Moli tries to sabotage Su Mujin’s new life, but Su Mujin remains unfazed, protected by her spiritual space and her growing happiness with Song Qinian. The story follows Su Mujin as she navigates the complexities of 1970s society, builds a loving family with the Song clan, and gradually helps Song Qinian recover his health, all while outsmarting her vengeful sister.

As Su Mujin settles into her new role as Song Qinian’s wife, she faces various challenges, including family dynamics and societal expectations. She uses her future knowledge and resources to improve her family’s status and well-being. Her relationship with Song Qinian deepens, transforming from a marriage of convenience into a genuine partnership. She supports his rehabilitation efforts, hoping to restore his ability to walk, while he provides her with the love and respect she never received from her own family.
