Qu Wanwan, a modern woman with a workaholic streak and social anxiety, dies from alcohol poisoning after binge-drinking while frustrated by a poorly written novel. She transmigrates into the world of that novel, Qian Yi Jue, inhabiting the body of a low-level immortal tasked with sweeping the Jade Pool. Determined to prove herself, Yun Yi chooses to descend to the mortal realm for training, with Qu Wanwan accompanying her. In the mortal realm, they are reincarnated: Yun Yi becomes Lin Wenyu, a noblewoman destined to be empress, while Qu Wanwan becomes Xiao Jing, a young man from a military family. Qu Wanwan navigates court intrigue, preventing an assassination plot against the Crown Prince by the demonic Third Prince, Mu Yibo. She saves Lin Wenyu from a trap involving an aphrodisiac, leading to an intimate encounter that complicates her feelings. Qu Wanwan continues to support Yun Yi, helping her navigate political dangers while seeking a way to earn enough points to return home. The narrative explores themes of identity, destiny, and the complexities of their relationship as they face new challenges in the mortal world.
