Ye Shizhi handles the situation calmly, exposing the accusers’ lies by bribing a child witness with sunflower seeds. When Jiang Sinian returns and finds the commotion, he violently beats the aggressors, nearly losing control. Ye Shizhi stops him by claiming her stomach hurts, triggering his panic and protective instinct. He carries her to bed, revealing his fear of losing her and the child, marking a significant shift in their relationship.

The story progresses as Ye Shizhi begins to plan for the future, intending to use her knowledge of modern business to generate income. She starts drawing comic booklets, aiming to publish them and earn money for the child’s upbringing. Jiang Sinian observes her work and shows interest, allowing her to feel a sense of normalcy. She secures a minimal compensation for the injured villagers while protecting Jiang Sinian from severe punishment.
