The boy was silent as the covers slid back softly – as that sound reached me the ground seemed to get a lot colder than before – and he quickly lay down, the bed creaking faintly as he got comfortable. It was strange, every sense seemed enhanced all of a sudden, I could hear every shift that his body made, even the sound of his head resting against the pillow after a moment. I was suddenly reminded of the sleepovers with my friends from school…the giggles as we whispered about nothing particularly significant, but at the time seemed just soimportant. It had been fun…

Also from the world literature stage, Vladimir Nabokov's The Enchanter (17,575) can give students a feel for the author whose best known -- and most controversial -- book is Lolita. In fact, The Enchanter, written in 1939, is considered by some an early draft of his 1955 Lolita; however, Nabokov felt that the piece stood on its own and represented some of his best writing in Russian (he wrote Lolita in English). Dmitri, Nabokov's son, has translated The Enchanter into English. Like Lolita, only the subject matter of The Enchanter is racy; the text itself is quite tame.

Very well written novel. In terms of writing quality, it is the cream of the crop on this platform. Nicely crafted characters and world background. The only thing working against it is the irregular updates and cliché tropes.

This book is actually the first book I’ve officially written. I’ve done some past projects involving translating Japanese light novels in the past but I felt like I wanted to try writing my own book. I make sure to take as many notes as I can but I do tend to forget small details like timelines.As for the story, this is a side project that’s based in the same world as our current protagonist. Eventually I plan to write a book about the current MC’s grandfather. He will be the main character of his own book. In case you’re wondering, this book does have an ending. I plan to end it around chapter 300 or so, unless readers actually like it. Then I’ll try juggling both books at the same time and go from there.
