Su Xieqiu, a twenty-eight-year-old office worker from the twenty-first century, dies unexpectedly and awakens in the body of a seventeen-year-old girl in 1970s rural China. The original owner, also named Su Xieqiu, was an educated youth sent to Sanhua Brigade in Northeast Ning Province. Her life had been marked by abandonment; her parents divorced early, and after her grandparents died in a landslide, she was rejected by both families. Forced into a marriage with Han Zhenyu, a local man with a reputation as a gangster, she was subjected to severe abuse by her mother-in-law, stepmother, and sisters-in-law. The physical and emotional torment culminated in her death after being beaten by her sister-in-law, Han Meili. Upon waking in this new body, Su Xieqiu discovers she retains her modern memories and a mysterious spatial ability linked to her former apartment, which contains food and supplies from her previous life.

The central conflict arises immediately as Su Xieqiu confronts her abusers. Instead of cowering, she uses the fire poker to beat Han Meili and Zhang Qianyun, shocking the village. She then stages a public scene, portraying herself as a victim of attempted murder to gain sympathy and leverage. When her husband, Han Zhenyu, returns from a prolonged absence, he finds his wife transformed. Initially planning to divorce her and return to the city, Han Zhenyu is forced to intervene when Su Xieqiu’s injuries are deemed serious. He negotiates with the brigade captain and Su Xieqiu’s in-laws, securing fifty yuan in compensation and ensuring the abusers face consequences. This marks a turning point where Su Xieqiu begins to assert her agency, no longer tolerating the mistreatment that defined the original owner’s life.

As the story progresses, Su Xieqiu explores her golden finger, discovering she can transport items from her 21st-century home into the 1970s. This ability provides her with modern food, clothing, and other necessities, giving her a significant advantage in the resource-scarce environment. She uses these resources to improve her health and subtly influence those around her. Her relationship with Han Zhenyu evolves from cold indifference to a tentative partnership. Han Zhenyu, who had previously viewed his wife as a burden, begins to respect her resilience and intelligence. He protects her from further harassment and helps her navigate the complex social dynamics of the commune.

The narrative also delves into Su Xieqiu’s past life, revealing the neglect she suffered from her biological parents. Despite their indifference, she maintained a fragile hope for reconciliation, which was ultimately shattered. In the 1970s, she finds a new sense of purpose, focusing on survival and self-improvement rather than seeking validation from those who do not care for her. She decides to stay in the village for the time being, recognizing that the countryside offers more stability than the chaotic political climate of the city. Her goal is to build a secure life for herself, using her modern knowledge and spatial ability to overcome the hardships of the era.

Key events include Su Xieqiu’s confrontation with her mother-in-law, Yang Lanhua, where she publicly exposes the family’s cruelty. She also begins to form alliances with other villagers, including Han Lei and Sun Dashu, who are friends of Han Zhenyu. These relationships provide her with support and information, helping her to navigate the local power structures. The story highlights the struggles of educated youths during the Cultural Revolution, depicting the prejudice and isolation they faced in rural communities. Su Xieqiu’s transformation from a timid victim to a confident survivor serves as the emotional core of the narrative.

The plot moves forward with Su Xieqiu adapting to her new reality while maintaining her modern identity. She faces challenges from jealous peers and scheming relatives, but her determination and resourcefulness allow her to overcome obstacles. The story sets the stage for future developments, including potential romantic developments with Han Zhenyu and the eventual impact of historical changes on her life. Su Xieqiu’s journey is one of resilience and reinvention, as she carves out a place for herself in a world that initially sought to break her.

This is my review cause that dude Anime4Life posted 2 reviews which is quite stupid.  He posted one to cancel(?) the 1 star review and then posted another review.  Him making that first review is stupid cause he didn’t even explain what was good, just that he liked it.  It’s the same with the 1 star review: provided no info about the story so they just need to stop trying to “cancel” some other review and post an actual review of the story.  Shit is stupid as **** and annoying.  Anyways, the story is decent and interesting.  The characters are decent, not good and not bad, just average.    The MC gives away info for free which bothers me when it could be sold.  The story is just overall average.  It’s like any other decent written story with nothing standing out.  It’s similar to Korean novels, very similar writing and character development.
