A brilliant scientist and galvanizing speaker collectively spark the toppling of all formal governments with their combined skills in 2060, the speaker takes the helm of all humanity, with the genius as his support. After 400 years, due to the technology of the scientist lengthening their lives, the genius grows disillusioned with their work, as the speaker has grown tyrannical.
The scientist invents a machine to bend time, to put an end to it all, however things complicate, he is thrust into a time and place unfamiliar, his machine no more, another needed to fulfill his vendetta for the sake of humanity, however that is rather complicated to create in a world of magic.
