Ye Ran, a modern woman, transmigrates into a restrictive cultivation novel after a car accident. Tasked by the Green Jiang System to transform the story into a clean version, she assumes the role of the original female lead, who possesses a cauldron physique destined to serve as a tool for the male lead and his harem. Determined to avoid this fate, Ye Ran uses her knowledge of the plot to steer clear of key characters, particularly the male lead, Meng Xuan, and the hidden great villain, Lu Li. She joins the Ten Thousand Immortals Sect as an artifact restoration disciple on Flowing Cloud Peak, diligently studying to mask her ignorance while maintaining a low profile.
Her efforts to avoid the original plot are tested when Li Tianyou, a harasser from her sect, attempts to assault her after a trip to the Xuanji Sect. Ye Ran successfully defends herself by trapping him with an Immortal-Binding Rope and publicly humiliating him. Shortly after, she stumbles upon Lu Li in a forest, witnessing him ruthlessly killing spies from the demon race. Lu Li, known publicly as a gentle and respected senior disciple, is secretly a cold-blooded killer. Although he discovers her presence, he maintains his facade and escorts her back to her quarters, leaving Ye Ran terrified yet relieved to have survived the encounter.
The situation escalates when Ye Ran receives a love letter signed by Lu Li, containing explicit and perverse demands. Confused and alarmed, she visits Wangxian Peak to confront him, hoping to clarify his intentions. Lu Li acts politely and gently, showing no sign of recognizing the letter's content, which deepens Ye Ran's confusion. She leaves without answers, only to later discover that the people Lu Li killed were indeed demon spies, suggesting the letter might be genuine rather than a threat. Meanwhile, her master, Li Qiuyu, gifts her a beginner's sword technique and requests she brew wine using rare Drunken Immortal Fruit.
While gathering the fruit, Ye Ran gets lost and is ambushed by a Hehuan Sect disciple. She is rescued by Meng Xuan, the male lead, marking an unintended encounter with him. Lu Li also appears, defeating the demon disciple and forcing Meng Xuan to escort the captive away, thereby preventing further interaction between Ye Ran and the male lead. During the aftermath, Ye Ran accidentally finds a pornographic book disguised as a cultivation manual, which she believes belongs to Lu Li. She returns it to him, leading to an awkward exchange where Lu Li reads the book openly in front of her.
Later, Ye Ran and Lu Li are trapped in a formation by demonic energy. Forced to spend the night together in a cave, tensions rise as Lu Li appears weakened by backlash from his earlier injuries. Ye Ran, fearing for her safety, keeps watch while Lu Li rests. Unbeknownst to her, Lu Li deliberately lured her into the trap to test her intentions, suspecting she might attempt to kill him. However, he is puzzled by her lack of aggression and her apparent innocence. As they wait for the formation to lift, Lu Li becomes increasingly obsessed with Ye Ran's unique fragrance, which captivates him despite his dangerous nature. The story concludes with their relationship shifting from avoidance to a complex dynamic of suspicion and attraction, as both characters navigate their hidden agendas within the changing plot.
