Cheng Youyou, a survivor of the apocalypse who possessed wood and healing abilities, transmigrates into the body of a female in the Beast World continent. She awakens in a cave, naked and holding the abs of an unconscious, handsome beastman named Mu Feng. Before she can process the situation, Mu Feng’s half-brother, Mu Yu, bursts in, accusing her of forcing Mu Feng into heat. Mu Yu, a golden-eyed beastman with a cruel demeanor, attacks her, but Cheng Youyou defends herself by grabbing his sensitive area, causing him immense pain. She flees, and upon returning to her own cave, memories of the original host flood her mind. She learns she is bonded to six beast husbands, four of whom are already bound to her by her shaman father, while the remaining two slots are vacant because the powerful males refuse to be tied to her. The original Cheng Youyou was known as ugly, lazy, and filthy, with a repulsive stench that drove males away.
Cheng Youyou resolves to survive on her own terms, utilizing her wood and healing powers which are amplified by the rich natural energy of this world. She discovers she can transform into a golden leopard beast form. Her first priority is hygiene; she uses soap pods from the forest to wash away years of accumulated grime, revealing a body that is still overweight but cleaner. She also begins to lose weight through diet and exercise. Her relationship with her beast husbands is fraught with tension. Mu Yu remains hostile, threatening her if anything happens to Mu Feng. Zi Wu, a young dragon beastman bonded to her since childhood, is disgusted by her but secretly provides her with food. Ji Xuan, the albino tiger tribe leader and her fourth husband, is cold and perceptive, observing her changes with intrigue. The original host had neglected her cave, preferring to beg at her husbands' dwellings, but Cheng Youyou restores her father’s herb-filled cave to a livable state.
A key turning point occurs when Cheng Youyou sneaks into Mu Feng and Mu Yu’s cave at night to heal Mu Feng, who was injured and unconscious. She uses her healing ability, emitting a warm white light that cures his chronic pain. Mu Feng wakes up and, instead of reacting with disgust, thanks her gently. This act of kindness confuses both of them. Mu Feng, who had always been ignored or abused by the original host, becomes increasingly attentive, bringing her food and offering to do chores. Cheng Youyou, however, maintains distance, viewing him as toxic and focusing on her survival. She begins foraging in the deep forest, where her wood ability evolves. She learns to communicate with plants, using vines to create tools like backpacks and baskets. She discovers potatoes and other plants unknown to the beastfolk, introducing new food sources to her life.
Her activities do not go unnoticed. Ji Xuan witnesses her in beast form and her interaction with the forest, noting her changed scent and behavior. Mu Feng follows her into the forest, protecting her from wild wolves and witnessing her use of vines. He begins to suspect she might be the legendary Beast God’s chosen one, a soul sent to revitalize the stagnating beast world. Meanwhile, Lu Xi, a fertile female with eight husbands who desires Ji Xuan, continues to harass Cheng Youyou. However, Cheng Youyou uses her herbal knowledge to brew a medicinal soup for Lu Xi’s pregnancy, earning a temporary truce and a trade for meat. This interaction showcases Cheng Youyou’s growing competence and value in the tribe.
As winter approaches, the tribe faces food shortages and demands for increased tribute from the sea beast tribe. Ji Xuan leads the males on a hunt, leaving the females behind. Cheng Youyou uses this time to expand her food stores, drying meat and gathering wild vegetables. She also cures her facial issues through diet and hygiene, slowly changing her appearance. The story follows her journey from a despised, overweight outcast to a capable survivor who is beginning to attract the attention and respect of those around her, particularly the enigmatic Ji Xuan and the devoted Mu Feng. She navigates the complex social dynamics of the beast world, balancing her desire for a peaceful, independent life with the inevitable entanglements of her bonded husbands.
The narrative highlights Cheng Youyou’s adaptation to her new body and environment. She struggles with the physical limitations of her original host’s lazy lifestyle but overcomes them through determination and her unique abilities. Her interactions with the beastmen reveal their hidden depths; Mu Yu’s aggression masks his insecurity, Zi Wu’s disdain hides his loyalty, and Ji Xuan’s coldness conceals his protective nature. Cheng Youyou’s transformation is not just physical but also social, as she begins to challenge the prejudices of the tribe. The story sets the stage for further conflicts, including the impending winter and the political tensions within the tribe, as Cheng Youyou establishes her place in this dangerous yet promising new world.
