Mi Xia, a modern woman, discovers she possesses a spatial storage ring inherited from her grandmother after accidentally cutting her finger on it. The space contains a house, farmland, a stream, and seeds that grow rapidly in a perpetual spring-autumn climate. Following recurring dreams of a famine-stricken past, she decides to prepare for potential transmigration by liquidating her parents' properties and spending ten days hoarding massive quantities of food, medicine, clothing, and household goods in rented warehouses. She stocks rice, flour, oils, spices, seafood, and essentials like diapers and sanitary products, moving everything into her space as deliveries arrive.
Upon returning to her hotel, Mi Xia transmigrates to July 22, 1975, inhabiting the body of a twenty-one-year-old woman with the same name. Despite the cramped conditions and poor sanitation, she uses her spatial resources to provide her new family with meat buns, milk tea, and other delicacies, quickly winning their affection. She begins hunting in the deep mountains, a dangerous area avoided by locals due to past fatalities, where she kills wild boars, goats, and chickens. She hides her supernatural abilities by claiming her husband taught her martial arts. Her first major haul is a large wild boar, which she shares with her brother's family, improving their diet significantly.
Seeking to improve her financial situation, Mi Xia travels to the county town and visits the black market. She sells grains, meat, and milk powder at high prices to a regular customer named Zhang Xiaoyu, exchanging goods for cash, coupons, and antiques. During one of her trips, she encounters a starving boy named Song Binbin who offers her a sapphire ring in exchange for food. Mi Xia provides him and his frail grandmother with substantial supplies, receiving imperial green jade bracelets in return. She establishes a routine of visiting the Song family periodically with food and supplies.
Back in the village, Mi Xia continues to hunt and forage, bringing home wild ginseng, fruit, and more game. She teaches her sister-in-law to make persimmon cakes and chestnut chicken, further bonding with her new family. When her brother expresses concern about her safety in the mountains, she reassures him and insists on using the money from selling game to buy clothes for her nephew and fund their education, asserting her role as a supportive family member. Meanwhile, the Mo family descends into chaos without her labor, with the branches fighting over resources. Mi Xia remains focused on building a secure future for herself and her daughter, leveraging her spatial storage and modern knowledge to navigate the hardships of the 1970s rural life.
